Since latest from the Middle Ages Augsburg was considered as the center of German gold and silversmithing. Spätestens ab dem Mittelalter galt Augsburg als Zentrum der deutschen Gold- und Silberschmiedekunst. In zahlreichen Schmieden in den verwinkelten Gassen der Altstadt entstand damals unter anderen das weltbekannte „Augsburger Tafelsilber”, dessen Besitz an allen europäischen Fürstenhöfen als Zeichen für Reichtum und Geschmack galt. Von den heute noch erhaltenen Handwerkshäusern dürfte die "Alte Silberschmiede" in der Pfladergasse das bekannteste sein. Bereits um 1250 entstanden, hat sie ihr heutiges Erscheinungsbild in der Zeit um 1550 erhalten. Bis ins späte 19. It housed until July 2010 the comedy, a venue of the theater Augsburg. Source: Wikipedia The plaster is crumbling for years, the monument protected Gignoux-house in the Old Town expires more and more. The owner died, heiress was supposed to be a 9-year-old daughter. It should give prospective buyers, but nothing was decided. The fate of the once beautiful house was uncertain for a long time! According to Augsburger Allgemeine Newspaper from 26th April 2014, there is recently a new owner. It should be an investor from the Munich area. The building must now be redeveloped for several million euros, possibly condominiums will emerge. Quelle: Wikipedia Der Putz bröckelt seit Jahren, das denkmalgeschützte Gignoux-Haus in der Altstadt verfällt immer mehr. Der Besitzer ist verstorben, Erbin sei angeblich eine 9-jährige Tochter. Man hörte zwar immer wieder von Kaufinteressenten, aber es wurde nichts entschieden. Das Schicksal des ehemals wunderschönen Hauses war somit lange Zeit ungewiss! Laut Augsburger Allgemeine vom 26.04.14, gibt es nun seit kurzem einen neuen Besitzer. Es soll sich um einen Investor aus dem Raum München handeln. Das Gebäude muss nun für mehrere Millionen Euro saniert werden, möglicherweise werden Eigentumswohnungen entstehen. Eine kulturelle Nutzung wird es wohl nicht mehr geben!

➽ Nach einem Streit der Fast Food Kette und seinem größten deutschen Franchisenehmers, aufgrund von Hygieneproblemen und Mitarbeiterführung, wurden nun zahlreiche Restaurants geschlossen. Im Raum Augsburg betrifft dies 3 von 4 Niederlassungen! Die obige Filiale wurde bereits im Frühjahr geschlossen. ➽ Es handelt sich um zwei Wassertürme mit Unterbauten aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. In der Nähe steht auch das Haus des Brunnenmeisters und das Gärtnerhaus. Weil Augsburg keine Erhebungen hat, die Gefälle-Zuleitungen von Wasser ermöglichen, brauchte die Stadt Wasserhebeanlagen und Pumpen, um ihre Wasserversorgung sicherzustellen. In den Brunnenwerken waren Pumpen installiert, die das Wasser in die Wassertürme mit ihren hoch gelegenen Reservoirs pumpten. Erst von dort konnte das Wasser aufgrund des hergestellten Gefälles in die Leitungen der städtischen Wasserversorgung geleitet werden. Im 18. Jahrhundert gab es in Augsburg nicht nur ein Röhrensystem von 36 Kilometern für die städtische Wasserversorgung, sondern auch sieben Pumpwerke. ➽ Der Sankt Jakobs Wasserturm , einer von ehemals zwei Wassertürmen an der östlichen Stadtmauer der Jakobervorstadt, wurde 1609 vom Stadtbaumeister Elias Holl errichtet. Bis heute ist die Originalfassade des Wasserturms erhalten geblieben. Im Inneren fehlen Spuren der früheren Funktion. Eine hölzerne Treppe führt bis ins Obergeschoß des Turmes.
