➽ Der Fünfgratturm ist ein Wehrturm in Augsburg. Er wurde 1454 errichtet, als Teil der östlichen Stadtmauer Augsburgs um die Jakobervorstadt. Er steht seit dem Abriss dieses Teils der Stadtmauer in den Jahren 1867/68 isoliert. Er wurde speziell für die so genannten Scharwächter errichtet; das waren Patrouillen, die dafür sorgten, dass die Augsburger ruhig schlafen konnten. In den Jahren 1948 und 1973/74 wurde der Turm renoviert. Er steht unter Denkmalschutz.

Im Augsburger Sprachgebrauch wird der Fünfgratturm auch als "Fünffingerlesturm" bezeichnet.

➽ The Fünfgratturm (five ridge tower) is a defense tower in Augsburg. It was built in 1454, as part of the eastern city wall around the Augsburg Jakober suburb. It's isolated since the demolition of that part of the city wall in 1867/68. It was built specifically for the so-called "Scharwächter" the patrols who made sure that the Augsburg citizens could sleep peacefully. In the years 1948 and 1973/74, the tower was renovated. It's a listed building.

In the Augsburg dialect the "Fünfgratturm" is called "Five fingers tower"!

Auch hier lieben Dank - da hats Wetter gerade super gepasst, hatte grad aufgehört zu schneien und a bisserl blau am Himmel! Is tatsächlich eines meiner persönlichen Lieblingsfotos - nur die Vignette würde ich heute wahrscheinlich weglassen!
