Down by the ford

Down by the ford
A view of the ford and this fine pack-horse bridge at Allerford village in Exmoor. A very pretty village with no shortage of extremely nice historic houses like the one we see here. Normally one might take the car through the ford up the hill but perhaps not today after torrential rainfall. Just a short distance further down the valley, the roads were closed due to floods!

Thanks Gordon. That house would be great but I do wonder on its safety on its close proximity to this river. We walked over the bridge and the river flow looked deep.

I know this bridge and cottage very well Herb. You have taken a lovely picture of it. Such a shame about the weather on your visit. I have stayed in a holiday apartment very close to this bridge.

Ah yes, a few apartments around here including the building (with the balcony) to my right. A great spot and I guess even better in bright blue skies. Glad this brought abut memories for you.
