A visit to Arnside.

A visit to Arnside.
A quick lunch visit to the village of Arnside in Cumbria on the northern side of Morcabe Bay, brings to us some rare bright weather. The star of the show here is the famous railway viaduct. Just minutes before taking this we heard the second of two warning sirens, that warn people out on the sands that the tide is about to turn and that they should return immediately to the shore as the sands are covered up and turned into quick-sand in moments when the sea rushes in from the left here to fill this picturesque but dangerous River Kent estuary.
See PiP (adjacent photo) for more a closer look at the viaduct.

Essential full screen

It’s a fascinating area, the way the tide rushes round the corner and of course the railway. Do they still move spent nuclear fuel that way do you know ?

Yes, it would have been nice to spend more time there alone with the camera but I was still happy to what I captured here. Don't know about that Nuclear fuel now. I thought they had stopped all that but... I never saw anything but the commuter trains going over this.

Two trains a day are booked, but in practice they run as required, about 3 times or so a week. To Heysham Power Station and return, and to and from Crewe.

A fine place to view from the sides but this is cockle picking country so some folk willing to take chances I bet.

We had lunch in the 'Albion Inn' Gordon and very good it was too. A good while since I was last here. We walked the foreshore till past the trees but was aware of incoming tide and lunch beckoning. Yes, a fine rare sky for us here too. Glad you liked it.

Cheers. Herb

Yes stones and a few worm caste for sure! Moments later the water was rushing upstream tossing the buoy around.

A very attractive view across the sands to the viaduct and the hills in the background. The light and sky are both beautiful and I love the way you've composed this with the boats in the foreground.

An excellent shot sir!

Another to take your interest Keith. It was fascinating to see the speed of the tidal race up and later down passing this boat and bouy. The sky was unusually nice for me here too.

Best Wishes. Herb

Hi Herb
A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Very nice composition, especially the boats in the foreground..
Great colours too.
I am sure some of us remember the cockle pickers and the incoming tide... Enough said.
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
