Great picture, Herb !

A cracking shot of this lovely looking (then) lighthouse. It stands out beautifully against the sky, especially with the sparking white paint and red top. I like the stepping stones leading to the steps and the people in shot for scale.

I visited this beach and took a shot of the lighthouse in 2011 and again in 2012. By then the stones had all been scattered by the waves and the paintwork was faded and badly peeling, such a shame. I wonder what it's like nowadays?

So glad that you know this lighthouse too Keith. A long way from home I think. Great that you enjoyed the composition and looking at the quality after all these years I am amazed that I took this with my little Canon which I still have but never use.
Sadly, my research at the latest photos shows those with badly peeled paintwork and looking sad.

Such a shame is hasn't been restored yet......I'm guessing it's too expensive!

Everyone seems to be chasing more megapixels and better picture quality........including me, but in all honesty we seemed to be managing perfectly well with our old digital cameras. Changing expectations I suppose!

As the oldest you would have expected it to be maintained

Yes, it is actually a Grade II listed building. It is also said to be haunted by an old lighthouse keeper. In actual fact I cannot be certain now that the lighthouse has not had another coat of paint.
