A Cemaes Bay fence

As we walk on the headlands and coastal path away from the village of Cemaes on Anglesey we see two structures of historical interest here. The most obvious is the decommissioned Wylfa nuclear power station built in 1963, but to our left and less imposing is the oldest church in Wales: St Patricks - said to have been founded by Saint Patrick himself in 440 AD. (More of this in another posting).
It looks like they must have run out of real wire fencing here as this wooden pallet has been wired in to stop folk from clambering around the end. Why?.... you may well ask!

Vielen Dank dafür. Das Kraftwerk funktioniert nicht mehr und ich denke, es soll ziemlich sicher sein. Es fühlt sich sicherlich gut genug für die Bewohner und Besucher an, die an diesen schönen Ort kommen.

Thank's Rosa. I did take a closer look near the end of that fence and yes it was dangerous just there but so was lots of the other un-fenced edges. I will post another photo of the church for HBM next week.

Aye, and we have a few of these around too. They always seem to be in the nicest bit of countryside too. Ah well, we all want electric really and in opinion, so far, not as dangerous to our earth as coal was.

An impressive view...........even with the ugly old nuclear power station. A shame we can't get a better view of the church, but I'm assuming from your narrative that there's more to come.

An odd way to repair a fence...........you'd think just adding another few feet of wire and another couple of posts would have been much easier!

Es ist schön zu sehen, dass ein Atomkraftwerk abgeschaltet wurde. Aber der fachgerechte Rückbau dauert etwa 25 Jahre und die Lagerung der strahlenden Rückstände eine Ewigkeit.
