Wild Beauty

As another of our local walks passes yet a different fence near our main Alexandra Park we see here what at first appears to be a rather pleasant flower head. However it is in fact a notorious weed that chokes its host.
“Hedge bindweed or bellbind (Calystegia sepium) with its pure white trumpet flowers is a familiar sight, choking plants in borders and twining around any plant shoot or cane. The smaller field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) with white or pink flowers is problematic in long grass and bare soil.” www.rhs.org.uk
HFF. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Herb Riddle club has replied to Erhard Bernstein clubLuckily I've not yet had any bindweed in my garden............normally I don't mind the odd weed, if it has pretty flowers and the insects like it, but I'll happily make an exception for this stuff!
HFF to you.................I hope that the extra restrictions in your area aren't too onerous and that you are able to have an enjoyable weekend.

Once again, I feel I must try and defend the poor weeds. :)
Yes they choke other plants, but that is how Nature made them and, really, they do not even remotely match the damage we humans do to the natural world!
HFF!

A very nice contrast here
Wonderful composition just to include the one flower like this.
Weed or not, we have lots of these along the riverbank in our village..
Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
