A misty Sunday walk in Autumn

Each November we start to get weather like this. Its about 7C and feels wet in the humid mist. Here I am again just a few minutes walk from my home, on my local railway walk. Yes, this path used to be a railway line, hence the old railway bridge.

A nice path of about 3 miles which are walk-able. The damp dank weather is our norm at this time of year. (In fact lot of the year!)

Beautiful autumn atmosphere (Typical November), and Snap Herb, I too live next to a railway arch but best showed off after a severe night frost and when the sun is just rising Late January time.

Hi Maurice. This line is about 200 yards away as the crow flies but 400 to the entrance for me. Only about 2miles walkable from here but it is often very pleasant with this bridge about 3/4 miles away. As you say, it is actually at its photographic best in severe frost and deep crispy fresh snow. So glad that you also experience walks and sights like this.

Nice to see you enjoying this Füsun. Yes, this spot often looks very nice particularly including this very pleasant tree. I used to have another shot from exactly the same position, taken in snow, which is a better picture I think, on the old Panoramio. Maybe I shall post it here sometime.

Aye, David, you have as much if not more rain than we do (is that possible?) This is known as our 'Linear Park', of which throughout the last 30 years there has been talk of turning it into a relief road. Thankfully that has never happened. You might remember my snowy Panoramio shot from this position too.

We certainly do Peter, but it was dying out on its own acord even without his 'axe'. I still remember seeing and hearing the steam engines running on here. In fact there was a big engine shed only a few hundred yards from where this photo was taken. My mates dad was an engine driver there.

A very nice image, so typical of Manchester in November! Grey, and damp!
All that is missing is the rows of terraced houses and factory chimneys!

Hi Peter - so happy that you have liked this. Aye, I remember those pea-soupers we used to get back in the old days. On November 6th, you could hardly breath as everything smelled of burned soot. And, as you say, we could see no more than a few yards. Ah, those were the days.....
...A few fireworks and maybe a fire somewhere -but at 19:00 all relatively quite here...not even a siren!!!!
