Peter the winds are strong here and shred the softer leaves which is why the cheap fence to kill it . A different fence to normal. HFF to you for your weekend as well.

Naw - nature never intended wood to be exposed like this hence that thing called 'bark'. Get that varnish or preserver on, or this will all rot away in a few short years. Or-maybe your hot dry weather stops all that? ~ Herb

you are right the heat keeps the wood in a good condition and a lack of water. In the K or NZ you would not be able to do this thats for sure.
