A bronze monument of Clive India, M.P. for the borough of Shrewsbury in 1761 and its Mayor in 1762, stands proudly in the town square. It was erected as a memorial to Robert Clive of India in 1860.

A cooler and cloudier day made it better for a walk around out local town.

HFF everyone.
St.Martin's Church.
The medieval church dates from 13th Century and has been enlarged and restored over the centuries, most notably by Sir Robert Walpole, who rebuilt the tower as a memorial to his grandfather Sir Jeffery Burwell in about 1730.
The interior is very plain.

The Sunday Challenge: Fill A Glass Container with objects.
The glass container may be a jar, vase, jug, etc. The objects may be a collection, identical objects or whatever you want to use EXCEPT liquids.
I love the tactile quality of turned wood, and the refractive and reflective quality of glass. So I put the 2 components together in a very false situation. The blue comes from a beach towel thrown over the back of a dining chair.
A late entry today. We had a visit from our youngest daughter and grandson who came for lunch.

Managed a walk of about 1.5 miles along the canal there and back before it got too hot. Then had to go for a lie down. ;-)

For today's Sunday Challenge.
I had to stand indoors looking through an open window to get a photo of this young sparrow. Not many birds visiting the feeders today - it's too hot!

Saturday Self Challenge: Summer. Take a shot of anything that represents your favorite aspect of the season.
At the best of times I do not like very hot summer weather such as we're having at the moment, and am often to be found in our north facing kitchen standing barefoot on the cold quarry tiles. I'm just off to the kitchen now. ;-)

Managed to get a bit further than the back garden this week. :-))

The River Church in Hamburg is an anchorage for those who seek help, is giving pastoral support to the inland skippers and regularly opens its hatches for church services. Below deck the term “nave” is brought to life. Rows of chairs provide enough room for 130 people. The church windows show life and work on the river. If it wasn’t for the occasional gentle swaying, you would hardly know that up until the beginning of the 1950s this was the interior of a barge.
