26 Mar 2019 39 22 657
#5 Spring Flowers The Wood Anemone is named after the Greek wind god, Anemos, who sent his namesakes, the anemones, in early spring to herald his coming. This legend gives the flower its other common name of ‘Windflower’.

The Second Labour of Hercules - slaying the Hydra

21 Mar 2019 21 8 381
In the foreground there is a pure white magnolia. Magnolias have been fantastic this year, so far no late frosts to discolour the buds and flowers. Behind Hercules there is a magnificent hedge of cloud cut yew - always a pleasure to see at Powis Castle.. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/powis-castle-and-garden/features/extreme-gardening-at-powis

Footbridge to flooded car park

17 Mar 2019 16 8 468
The River Severn has burst its banks, and water covers Frankwell car park (at the other end of the bridge). The flood barriers have been erected a little further downriver to protect the theatre and surrounding buildings. A short distance upriver there is a flooded garden of a small riverside cafe, where a teapot was floating in the river.

Ocarina

17 Mar 2019 18 16 499
Today's Sunday Challenge: Musical instrument/s, in B&W and square format. This morning we went out to look at the floods in our nearest town, and by the time we got back, and I checked the Sunday Challenge, I found that guitars, pianos, mouth organs etc. had all been done. So my contribution is a simple ocarina. The PiP shows a mouth organ. The Hobbit - Misty Mountains Cold on STL Ocarina
