Dear members and friends of ipernity,
1) Let's get up and dance!
Request for music suggestions for the winter slideshow uploaded to YouTube.
There was feedback that the music chosen for the autumn slideshow was too melancholic. For the winter, 'Chris de Burgh / When Winter Comes' is envisaged.
Do you have a better idea? Make your suggestions in a comment below.
Note: Proposals need to be instrumental music of about 3 minutes duration. The music should be accompanying music in the background, and not dominate the pictures. They must either be copyright-free or licensed for use on YouTube.
2) Easier access to help tickets and responses.
You may have noticed a new icon in the upper right of our webpages. The question mark is a new link to our Help & Contact page where you can contact the team and see the status of your help requests (ticket status).
Also, when you do have an unread reply to your help request, you will now see a red exclamation mark on that question mark icon.
Further, it was recently discovered that some Help & Contact tickets, created when user was not logged into an ipernity account, were not reaching the team moderator. This has been corrected and the team moderator is working to reply to those old tickets. We hope for your patience.
3) Interruptions on our website.
We have unfortunately had two short offline periods, each lasting about an hour. This has been due to a script that no longer works which unfortunately caused a disk partition on one of our database servers to fill up. We would like to apologise for this. We hoped the underlying problem would be resolved by now but a permanent solution is still in progress.
We take this opportunity to remind everyone that in the case of any significant offline time, our official notices about ipernity website status can be found at twitter.com/ipernity. One does NOT have to have an account with twitter to see these notices.
Some people have noticed a longer delay than expected in the appearance of new photos on the Explore/New page. After investigations we have not been able to find anything wrong or a cause. We are, however, taking these observations into account and will consider them as we continue to deal with the current server problem.
4) Are the changing seasons inspiring your photography?

Light changes as we drift through the seasons. This time of year, whether you are in the northern hemisphere watching the light levels angle lower, or in the southern hemisphere gaining brighter days, the shift can bring new ways to see the world around us.
Inside or out, seasonal changes can bring dramatic lighting. Storm clouds can play against sunny skies. Shadows lengthen subjects near windows. Photography is all about light. Let the changes of this time of year open your eyes to new possibilities in your photography.

I'm not sure how to tell if it's licensed or not. :o
Regards. :)
Bergfex club has replied to xenophora clubIn this case it is missing. The song may therefore not be used.

Eric Desjours club has replied to * ઇଓ * clubroyalty free songs are, alas, often all-purpose music, without much imagination, aren't they?
I quite like your "Winter magic", though: I vote for it!
Otherwise, I really like Chris De Burgh's "When Winter Comes". But as the "Hit The Snow" of xenophora, is it really copyright free...?
* ઇଓ * club has replied to Eric Desjours clubabout the quality of the music pieces I suggested, of which none reflects my personal taste, I myself don't want to judge, as tastes are different, and I also selected and suggested them with this in mind.
Of course, our winter slideshow will ideally be accompanied by appropriate instrumental music. So everyone has free choice or can make his/her own suggestions.
The suggestion of xenophora is definitely not copyright free, as I can confirm.
Regarding “When Winter Comes” by Chris De Burgh, there's no notice regarding copyright freedom. Therefore, this music may not be used either, unless Bernhard has information which has been hidden from me so far.
raingirl club has replied to * ઇଓ * clubEric Desjours club has replied to * ઇଓ * clubBergfex club has replied to * ઇଓ * clubThis one is licenced for YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP8maKtZ-Lk
To find the license:
- click onto 'more' underneath the number of views.
- click onto 'licenses' to see them in detail
Either way, you can be very sure that I check the licensing situation very carefully for each music. Because I don't want to risk any warnings from YouTube. These would lead to the account being suspended if they were repeated.
The platform also checks every video when it is uploaded anyway. No video with protected content will be accepted at all by YouTube.
* ઇଓ * club has replied to Bergfex clubThis settles the question of the usability of the instrumental piece interpreted by Chris de Burgh.
And sorry. I had read the licensing yesterday and should have taken another look before writing my comment on this point.
I know of your extraordinary care and responsibility in dealing with copyrights and licensing, and I appreciate that very much.
This music is appealing and a good choice for our winter slideshow.
Always a good job, guys!
A few suggestions of my own:

and why not a poem, able to give a new relief to our slideshow... ?

have a good weekend.

* ઇଓ * club has replied to Eric Desjours club“Winter's Tale” is also wonderful and worth considering.
Isn't it great there' s also music to suit everyone's tastes? :)
So that everyone can see how YouTube displays the release for use, here are three exemplary screenshots:
In such cases, YouTube has entered into agreements with the rights holders who have allowed the music in question to be used on YouTube in official and user-generated videos. See: support.google.com/youtube/answer/7680188
Thanks
Bonne nouvelle semaine à tous.
Bonne continuation je découvre de plus en plus.
Bonne chance.

Wikipedia / Background_music (also available in other languages)
But, as Raingirl writes quite rightly: There are exceptions! For example, when the language is so unfamiliar that 99.9% of the listeners do not understand it. That's why it was possible to use Marie Boine's song "Geasuha" for the 2020 Ipernity Homepage Pictures Autumn Collection.
In any case, I will listen carefully to and evaluate all the suggestions made above!
xenophora club has replied to Bergfex clubI would enjoy either a vocal or instrumental work, so long as it is chosen carefully. :)
Team club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubModerator club has replied to Fred Fouarge clubAll music proposals have been collected here so that they do not get lost. They will be reviewed in mid-November, after which the most suitable proposal will be used for the slideshow featuring the homepage pictures of the winter season 2022/23.
