Dear members and friends of ipernity,
1) Help us select the best homepage pictures for the winter season!
Due to the great interest in the trial voting for the homepage pictures in July, voting is now offered again for the upcoming winter pictures. If you would like to take part, follow this link: Vote on the ipernity homepage pictures for this winter.
2) Improve the visibility of your pictures.
When browsing the gallery pictures using the Lightbox view, you may have noticed that about a quarter of all pictures are displayed rather small:
This rendering is not a malfunction of the Lightbox. The cause is rather that the members in question still have the maximum display quality set to the aged monitor standards SVGA (800 pixels) or XGA (1024 pixels) in their account settings.
As the minimum display standard nowadays is HD quality, we recommend that you set the display option to 'Up to 2048 if available' in your display quality options. This will show your content to its best advantage.
3) New Creation Techniques.
A month ago the DALL·E 2 website opened to the public presenting a new means of artistic expression. To create an image, all one has to do is type in a text entry of what is imagined. The artificial intelligence will generate four images based on over five billion images and terrabyes of data it used to “learn” how to create such images that are unique and do not infringe on copyright laws.
Note: Members who choose to use DALL·E 2 or another artificial intelligence program to create images should mention it when uploading them. At the same time, it must be noted that copyright laws have not caught up with this new technology and thus original works that are uploaded are not protected by copyrights. However, Ipernity will prohibit such images from being copied if the member has selected "All rights reserved".
4) Help ticket issue resolved.
An issue that had kept help tickets from reaching the team has been resolved. Only tickets that were written while not logged into an ipernity account were affected. All previously unseen help tickets have now received a reply. Unfortunately this issue was only discovered last month.
We apologize for any undue distress that was created because of a lack of response from the team.
In this context, we would like to refer once again to our last Club News of 21 October 2022, in which we introduced you to the new Ticket Reply Notification function under item 2.
5) Club News goes monthly.
Our Club News publication will now be monthly year round. Publication will fall on the first Friday of the month. In the case of extraordinary or special events, we will of course inform you promptly.
Your ima team
Wünsche noch einen schönen Abend,Güni :))
Bergfex club has replied to Peter Castell clubIf you do not score certain pictures, that is not a problem. This will be considered as an abstention, which will not be taken into account.
After the end of the voting (in two weeks), the pictures assessed as least worth seeing will be replaced by new ones, as far as such are available.
It is therefore very helpful to suggest such alternatives in the next days by posting them in this group: Ipernity Homepage - Picture Proposals

You can vote on all the photos, or abstain as Bernhard mentions.

Bergfex club has replied to Colin Ashcroft clubWe have therefore chosen a commercially available, ready-made tool for this purpose. It offers all the possibilities we need without us having to do any programming ourselves.
Since it is a third-party software, we naturally have no influence on the access modalities there. But they are very simple.
Thank you for the notice that "All Rights Reserved" will prevent our images from being used without our consent.
My "sister" ipernity account's photos all have that designation. Though this account does not.
This same issue is currently roiling the DeviantArt site. A great many users are quitting that site because they are angry at the owners over issues of consent relating to AI. I hope that won't become an issue here as well.
As far as I know, the promotional offer of ipernity is still valid.
amylsacks club has replied to Bergfex clubTeam club has replied to amylsacks clubwe also have an AI "service" that would displease the Deviant Art members?
amylsacks club has replied to Team clubDeviant Art seemed ready to simply sweep all their content into their new AI project. They wanted users to literally opt out of having their work used one image at a time. They've now backed off from that, but people are still angry. There is also a claim that that DA has "closed the barn door after the horse has escaped." Supposedly, work we posted there was already "scraped" by AI promoters so they can use it easily.
I have shared a link to this page with some of my art-loving friends. But don't be surprised if just the mention of AI makes them proceed with extreme caution. Thanks.
Bergfex club has replied to amylsacks clubAs far as item 3 (above) is concerned: This is only an information for those who are interested. Because it's always good to know what's happening elsewhere.
Therefore my question and request: Can you give us a concrete link where we can find out more about what is going on at DA? Is there an official announcement from DA? Where? Or is there a forum where this is discussed?
amylsacks club has replied to Bergfex clubHere is the thread on Deviant art. They first announced that artists would need to click a box on each artwork ("Deviation") one at time in order to opt out of having works become AI fodder. But then they changed their minds, because so many users were angry. Now, there's a single button in each artist's profile which defaults to saying, "No, don't use my work for AI production." It covers all the work an artist posts to DA. Unless the artist changes it.

Two additional commentaries from the Mastodon platform (which also reference the same DA link).

The pictures on the lower positions will be replaced by new pictures for the coming winter season. See: Homepage Winter Collection
Wenn ich darauf klicke, sehe ich aber nichts Neues. Alle Beiträge sind 10 bis 21 Tage alt.
But if your browser is set to clear cookies on exit, then ipernity will not know that the mark is not required.
