Another senior moment.
Today I fancied fish fingers for lunch and had a couple of nice soft baps just right for the job.
I went to the chest freezer and removed one or two items until I found the fingers. Then I put everything back in but couldn't find the fish fingers.Yep I had packed then neatly away in the freezer again.

We have a Tesco Express store opened on the island today,the opening hours will be 6 am until 11 pm 7 days a week. they have stuck leaflets into every house on the island.

The government passed a law a few years ago restricting the large supermarkets to 4 hours trading on a Sunday. This gave the shops with a small floor area a boost as they were not restricted. Now the giant Tescos didn't like this of course so started building Express stores with a small enough area to allow them unrestricted opening hours. They don't like competition however small the big boys.

This store will impact on our local traditional corner shop of course but I think the real loser will be the local Co-op good stuff but expensive,in these hard times the cost of the weekly shop is important and only time will tell the effect the new store has not only on these two and the local bakery but similar shops at the north end of the island. It does have one advantage for me,at the moment the Co-op is the only place on the island to buy fruit and veg and their prices are downright silly so I have to trail over the bridge to town for mine,maybe now I can get the fresh daily.
