I think the Internet has a lot to give the silver surfer and Vice versa. Apart from making it easy to keep in touch with distant family and friends we can discover new worlds out there with the help of our global contact list of friends. Some join groups of people with shared interests, some show us their homeland through stunning photos and well written blogs. We get close to some and become firm friends sharing our daily trails and triumphs. These are things that will keep our brains active which is good it would be so easy to curl up on cold winter days and just watch the mindless pap on the goggle box. It is through the Internet I rediscovered my love for walking. I had an on line pal called Michelle who came for a visit and wanted to see around the island and that was the spur that put me back on track and shook me out of a few years of laziness. So what do I get from the Internet? Well apart from the above I have Flickr to store my photos and You tube for my videos which I can send to anybody in a few seconds and it is keeping my brain alert. I hope to be around to bore folk for a long time to come. You have been warned.

This became reallity in 2006 when first I had a visitor from Thailand, I then went to Japan for 30 days to visit 13 of those Skype friends there, on my return I joined Multiply, the first social network I'd ever used. Many visits in both directions followed.
Multiply gave me several other new good friends as did visiting existing ones.
Yes Mickey, the Internet has been a really wonderful thing for me too.
Being English I see several different "English" names for this and that from English speaking friends not to forget the "Engrish" ones or those here using DK School English.
However the friends are acceptable because they don't put others down, not even those with "Flourescent green skin with pink polker dots.
lol
