Do you remember when wedding gifts were sensible in price and use? You know the sort of things, bed linen, towels, may a canteen of cutlery if they were close friends and you had a bob or two to spare, an electric toaster, cookery books and cheap pans or crockery All simple and straightforward enough as I remember. All useful stuff for newlyweds and we didn't need a list. Well a neighbour just showed me her nephew's wedding list. It is sorted by price starting with the most expensive. There is even a list of the stores to buy the items complete with make and model. I scanned the list and didn't spot any of the traditional wedding gifts, this lot seemed to be more to do with self indulgence than home making, maybe folk don't make homes anymore.I noticed two of the items one was a Wi,the other astonished me,it was driving lessons for his bride to be. Life used to be simpler.
