"For You" (Johnny Burke - Al Dubin) appeared in the 1930 "all talking picture" and historical operetta "Captain of the Guard" as sung by Broadway star, actor, singer John Boles. John's career included silent films opposite Gloria Swanson then he went on to star in talkies including the original "Frankenstein" and "Curly Top" with Shirley Temple and into Technicolor films with Barbara Stanwyck and Mary Martin.
The teen idol Ricky Nelson had the biggest selling cover of "For You" when the single hit number six on the pop chart and number one Easy Listening on Billboard in 1964. This was his last big hit of the sixties.
