Singapore 10 cent piece, about 15mm across. This was intended for the Macro Monday group before the recent problems with ipernity, the theme "This time it should be a close-up (macro) of the number 10". Better late than never I guess! I've just bought some extension tubes to play around with, this was taken with an old manual 50mm lens.

Focus on phones... :-) Seems it's worldwide - here on the Singapore Metro.

At 165M, the Singapore Flyer is the second highest giant Ferris wheel in the world. A ride on it was unmissable, as was the view of the city (see also notes) .

Home from our travels at last. Tonight I downloaded my images - they're going to take some sorting! So, let's kick off with our first stop, in Singapore. As it's Friday here, I'll wish you all a very happy HFF and a great weekend.

Today we were reminded that it was exactly 75 years since the surrender of Singapore. Some years ago we visited the restored "Battle Box" (the name for the military headquarters - see note) where the underground bunkers had been refitted as original and with very lifelike mannequins of the military personnel. It felt a little spooky! That's Lieutenant-General Percival on the right, who was forced to surrender the island and nearly two hundred thousand military personnel became war prisoners. Courtesy of the Japanese , a very high proportion died before the armistice. .
