early c20 iron grave markers beside the tower. I note that there are modern versions of these in the churchyard, so they are still made.

unbelievably, it seems that churchwardens are still uprooting gravemarkers in the name of efficiency and tidiness. concurrently, they allow hideous alien marble concoctions to sprout, though some recent gravestones buck the trend, bringing art and craft back to memorials in the place of the horrors of green glass and mass produced sentiment. this great collection of cast iron markers from the c19 will probably go for scrap if not stolen first, absolutely criminal.
churches are far better off in the hands of conservation trusts, who value and protect them, than with parishes who find history a burden.

the tomb marked j.t., s.t., and e.t., 1825 is formed of iron urn shaped head and foot markers , with a part-buried slab inbetween. only one retains lettering, but both feature a mourning female on the base.
