Work is now complete to reinstall Turner Prize-winning artist Antony Gormley’s (b. 1950) 6 TIMES along the Water of Leith in Edinburgh.... The final figure, situated at the end of an abandoned pier in Leith Docks, looks out to the point where the river course finally meets the sea. Leith... is a port area in the north of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, at the mouth of the Water of Leith. The earliest surviving historical references are in the royal charter authorising the construction of Holyrood Abbey in 1128. The medieval settlements of Leith had grown into a burgh by 1833, and the burgh was merged into Edinburgh in 1920. The former Northern Lighthouse Board’s tender Windsor Castle , which has been lying in the river Fal since 2000, has been purchased by The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust, who plan to operate her as a floating luxury hotel. Western Harbour is a mainly residential development in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland. The new urbanist masterplan is designed by the new classical office of ADAM Architecture. Reaching north into the Firth of Forth away from Newhaven Harbour, the site extends the breakwater on the west side of the Port of Leith with land reclaimed from the waters of the harbour through landfill.
