Not sure, but I think the stretch of riverbank to the right is where I nearly drowned myself the day before. Can't quite see the actual spot from Rjúpnafell.I think the spot at dead center is as far as I could go upriver.

View from the top of Rjúpnafell, looking back the way I'd come. Volcano Huts, where I stayed, is just up and left from dead center. Not a difficult hike, but a rather long one.
