Plan was to hike upriver as far as I could safely go. Like the day before, that turned out to be not very far.

Plan was to hike upriver as far as I could safely go. Like the day before, that turned out to be not very far - thanks to the loop of river on the left. This was maybe a half mile upriver from where I'd reached the bank coming down from Rjupnafjell.

Made it back down to the river just as the weather cleared up again.

Not sure, but I think the stretch of riverbank to the right is where I nearly drowned myself the day before. Can't quite see the actual spot from Rjúpnafell.I think the spot at dead center is as far as I could go upriver.

Foolishly, hiking solo, I actually tried to get around the big red rock at center, about a 10ft distance. Water was ankle deep for the first few steps, then it was suddenly over knee-deep. Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done on a trip. And that's saying something. Hestagötur, Gathillur, and Horn
