An unintended benefit of having inadvertently booked a hotel in the remote suburbs of Berlin was that it was only a few blocks from the Spandau Zitadelle.

Believe it or not, this was taken at about 11:30pm, in near total darkness, as an experiment with the shutter settings on my then-two-week-old camera. The wisps of steam over the factory or power plant in the distance were glowing ghosts to the naked eye.
