mural “Capax Infiniti” - Created by Faith47

this woman has been gracing our downtown for years, classing up the place viewable due to an open parking lot. now construction has begun on a building in that parking lot, but i'm happy to see that it looks like they are at least going to preserve the art. unknown how visible it will be in the end. credit to the muralist: Created by Faith47, one of the most famous female street and graffiti artists in the world. Entitled “Capax Infiniti” (“Holding the Infinite” in Latin), the South African muralist painted this beautiful piece showing a ghost-like woman with her back turned to us.” — Street Art News and Wikipedia. [I put a PIP with a link to someone's photo of this art work before construction began - worth seeing! - for some reason the PIP doesn't show the image directly, but it does link to the right place if you click on it.] May have been installed in 2014 or thereabouts.

even though it isn't friday, i had to put something up that isn't my wrist fracture. this is downtown Portland, Oregon. the Portland Outdoor Store has been there for many many decades. same company, same building it is now becoming one of the last few old buildings in its area (though we do preserve some very nice old buildings). the company is 100 years old this year.

portland high school face

12 Jun 2017 20 32 604
Portland, Oregon. Around a 10 inch, what appears to be pressed wood, face from the Portland High School building (1885 - 1928). The building was at 14th & SW Morrison. First called "The High School", then Lincoln Highs School starting in 1909. The high school moved in 1911 and was taken over by a Girl's Polytechnic. If I have time I will add a picture of the building itself later.
