I only noticed this plant and about twenty more of the same species on a southwest-facing flint wall recently. According to our local wildlife group, they are not usually found this far east, on the south coast of England. They do not seem to have a very long life-span as they had shrivelled up by the beginning of July. I must look out for them next Spring.

I found this tucked in among photos and papers that I inherited from my mother. She was working in London during WW2.

Perhaps it is the hip end to the roof and the white render - but this view always made me think that it should be further out into the suburbs. The row of dormer windows and the gable end onto the road further along only add to the impression.

Overhead passes the railway between London Bridge and Charing Cross Stations - among others.

'Q' registration can mean ex-military - maybe from BAOR as it's left-hand drive.

There are no topographical hills in Peckham! I believe Hill was the name of a noteworthy local resident, and the street was initially named just Hill Street.
