For those looking for 'the photographer' my reflection can be seen at the top left of the top picture.

Newhaven harbour entrance & gulls 21 11 2021

21 Nov 2021 2 1 162
This panorama is a slice of a long distance 35mm format image. The original photo is almost twice as wide as this. The distance from the camera to the lighthouse is approximately 3 miles. The Newhaven lifeboat can be seen on the left, returning to its station within the harbour. It will have been on one of its regular Sunday morning training sessions, for its volunteer crew.

Gulls teatime 9 5 2013

This photo was uploaded to complement another photo uploaded recently. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/49663680 The gulls in this photo were flying into the wind and remaining almost stationary. They didn't come down to pick up the food twhile the child was throwing it, as it was still very close to them. They waited until they both walked away.

Skate lunch - 30.7.2012

21 Aug 2013 1 5 296
Hearing a bit of commotion outside the front of our house, I went out to find this going on. Fortunately they stayed around long enough for me to get my camera. Eventually they disappeared up a neighbour's driveway, so I don't know who got to have the skate! The fish doesn't look big enough for a skate, but it is better known than many flat fish!

Tyred gull - Newhaven Harbour - 16.3.2015

Oh dear! Dreadful pun aside - I haven't a clue what these two floating sausages are - some sort of giant fenders?

Don't dust feathers with a feather duster - Newhav…

23 Aug 2014 4 330
Two young Herring Gulls aren't sure what to make of a feather duster in the water by Newhaven Swing Bridge. This is not a colour-popping image. The eye-catching feather duster was in the river and I don't think I even boosted the colour saturation. This is an eye-catching reminder of the dangers of household items getting into our rivers.

Gullible gulls - Seaford - 21.7.2014

Bird bath for two

12 May 2014 196
Why these gulls need to use an ornamental bird bath, when they are within a mile of the sea, on a fine spring day, I don't know!

Gulls flock over Edinburgh Road, Seaford - 21.1.20…

22 Jan 2014 1 257
Having travelled back from Cuckmere, I changed buses. While waiting for the town service, several groups of gulls, as large as this lot, came from inland and headed down towards the sea. I don't know if flocking is the correct term, as they weren't swirling around like starlings do.

Seaford Beach to Newhaven - 13.12.2011

14 Dec 2011 202
I only spotted these gulls, silhouetted against the spray, when I zoomed in on a much wider shot. So this is cropped quite considerably.

Even an long shot like this one can pick up the gulls waiting for the 'discards' as the trawler returns to port.
