Taken on my compact on its panorama setting, this was taken from the furthest the public can go on the redeveloped Western Arm of Dover Harbour. The promenade is elegantly laid out with benches and lamp standards and waste bins at intervals. There were no businesses open on the public areas except an excellent ice cream kiosk and a volunteer-staffed 'Welcome to Dover' booth, both near the land end. Neither was doing much business. The marina was empty except for a small UK Border force vessel, a RNLI lifeboat and a local tour boat.

This panorama is a slice of a long distance 35mm format image. The original photo is almost twice as wide as this. The distance from the camera to the lighthouse is approximately 3 miles. The Newhaven lifeboat can be seen on the left, returning to its station within the harbour. It will have been on one of its regular Sunday morning training sessions, for its volunteer crew.

A panoramic view made from three 35mm format photos. On checking the location on Google maps in August 2021, it appears that the portakabins were still there recently and there were even more floating cranes.

The Newhaven & Seaford Sailing Club had a rather inactive sail, with hardly a breath of wind to stir their sails. Panorama from the Panorama setting on my compact - with an attempt to straighten the distorted horizon.

This was taken with the panoramic setting on my Panasonic compact camera. The red kiosk, towards the left of the view, sells the most reasonably priced soft ice-cream - in waffle cones - with a flake - I have yet come across in my travels along the south coast!

A manually spliced panorama - I needed the photographer and her subject in the picture. Neither image was that interesting on its own.
