ETS Eastern Tiger Swallowtail [ Papilio glaucus ] -
A familiar eastern butterfly in North Carolina -
The yellow ones are male and female -
Dark ones are always female -
This one has ragged wings -
But quite able to fly -
Have seen them with entire bottom of wings missing -
They still fly !

Top Left - American Snout (Libytheana carinenta) -- A Lifer for me !
Top Right - American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis)
Bottom Right - Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus)
Bottom Left - Common Buckeye (Junonia coenia)
All seen this morning, plus Skippers darting back and forth -
The American Snout is a Lifer for me - knew it was in NC, but 1st time seen -
It landed on my camera - flew away - returned and I put out my hand for it to get salt -
Remained there forever (yes, shooting with one hand gets dicey) - just ask Pam J ;)

North Carolina blue sky welcomes a bright yellow guest -
A gift from the birds (as my friend in Oklahoma, Pam J) -
[Maximilian Sunflower] -
Says she didn't scatter these seeds -
Love surprises so bright -
Quite tall and has more buds -
It is growing near the Lilac shrub -
Just like the Hollyhock -
Interesting ---- very interesting !
Oh, the 'wings' in the title -
Today was bountiful -
Three ETS in our yard and 3 more next door -
It has never been so busy !
