of old - no longer able to patch it up - this downtown building will be demolished - yet, as much as can be salvaged will be - and used in the one replacing it - originally it was a wood building (late 1800's) - but burned - replaced by a brick structure ( from research) - it has held many businesses - the note on the top photo - shows where a metal rod was capped with the star shape - to keep the building from cracking any more - from the great Charleston Earthquake in 1886 - the Earthquake was so strong it damaged buildings at least as far as Danville, Virginia (some text courtesy of Times-News) © All Rights Reserved
