and a night of music ! center photo.. on the bottom left is a railing .. we sat just before the railing went down the staircase .. on the 3rd level of a re-purposed Dye Mill along the Haw River .. thus, the name of the facility - Haw River Ballroom .. as much original materials have been re-used .. will be going back in the daylight to have a tour and take photos .. do have some photos to post later .. showing the old brick and wide wood used then .. oh, and the Industrial light fixtures .. can't wait to go back .. the entire Staff was extremely nice and helpful .. main contacts were the owners .. very understanding with this Lost Wanderer .. if you have ever been way out in the country .. there are no street lights [ or few ] .. try to read street signs for the turn off .. the Wanderer used her cell phone and asked for directions ! © All Rights Reserved - 1 note - ----- EXPLORE ----- And, really, the LaGardes [ Tom and Heather ] are just getting started with Saxapahaw: In May, 2011. they finally opened the Haw River Ballroom, a 700-capacity music venue that's arguably the most elegant and interesting nonmunicipal performance space in the state. Along with their partner, Margaret Jemison, the LaGardes spent the better part of the last four years turning the bastard section of the mill—a windowless, awkwardly partitioned space—into a room that uses an old dryer tank for sound and lighting and whose three-level layout mirrors the experience of watching music on the nearby hillside. Almost everything in the ballroom is salvaged, like the iron-and-wood benches taken from a Myrtle Beach amusement park and the floor rescued from an abandoned industrial site in Sanford. "There's a little bit of every small town in the state in here," says Tom, laughing. .. courtesy of Indy Week News [ raleigh-cary durham-chapel hill ] NC By Grayson Haver Currin ARCHIVE AIRINGS AA300-MUSIC

" Paper Wings"

21 Aug 2015 3 8 524
- performed by Bad Penny at the Open Jam "Paper Wings" Paper wings, all torn and bent You made me feel like They were heaven sent Paper wings, not real at all They took me high Enough to really fall Your paper kisses faded too soon Just like a paper rose 'Neath a paper moon Paper wings, paper wings Oh, how could I expect To fly with only paper wings? Angels were singing, didn't you hear? If only I'd listened close When they whispered in my ear Paper wings, paper wings Oh, how could I expect To fly with only paper wings? I tried to fly but found That I had only paper wings Writer(s): Gillian Howard Welch ** EXPLORE - Video **
