House Finches .. Photos taken through Living Room window .. There are 4 of them .. Plus Poppa (with red feathers) feeding them .. They called and called for him .. And called .. He did his usual indirect path to the nest .. Can't be too careful .. Then landed on ceramic squirrel to bend down to open mouths .. Poppa glanced through the window .. I didn't move .. But, he wasn't happy with me .. Quickly fed them and left .. Probably my imagination .. But the kids looked upset after he left .. They glared .. Seems this brood of House Finches has done just that .. First photo was on 5May .. Some will soon fledge .. Serious wing-testing was going on ~ Not a clue what Poppa Finch was telling them .. Kid #1 and Kid #2 .. In sun and shadow .. Deck railing .. Kid #1 .. '' think she put any food out?'' Kid #2 .. '' won't know unless you go check '' Kid #1 .. '' why is it my turn?'' Kid #2 .. '' because '' And they sat .. perched on the rail .. Neither went to check out the Deck Buffet .. There are many Finches this year .. The only nest I can see is out the Living Room window .. Momma had one set and the second ones are demanding food .. She even expanded the 'living' space .. Added on to the next since there are four I've seen .. One thing is different .. There are two males who bring food .. But, Poppa Finch will chase off any other .. Nature 101 .. (through the window) 2017

The House Finches have left the nest - Seen feeding on the deck - Trying to convince Poppa that they don't know how to feed themselves, yet - He'll buy that for a little while, then fly off into the White Ash tree - Needs some 'alone time' - Wondered why I didn't get fussed at in House-Finch-speak - When I went out front today ! 10 July 2016 ** The left photo was posted earlier with Mom and the newborn .. Mom - Fledgling - Poppa House Finch - All above the roof - The old antenna is a favorite spot - A Mockingbird was singing at the very top - The House Finches were there at the same time - Across at the house next door - An American Robin seemed to be trying to 'out-sing' - Mr Mockingbird - Then, this rare moment of in-flight - As Sir Richard of the Land Of Lakes says - ''Always, always look up '' ! © All Rights Reserved * EXPLORE *

gazing out the kitchen window - hordes [ know birds are not called that ] - but Robins all across the backyard - in the yards of neighbors - those 'leaves still in the grass' ? if they move, it is a Robin - then another influx- smaller feathered folk - through binoculars looked like Cedar Waxings - saw a few perched in the White Ash - of course the photos are blurry - CWs don't tend to stay still very long - Juncos - House Finches - Cardinals - Blue Jays - Mockingbirds - somebody left the door open ! it always amazes me that they don't fly into each other - or into the deck railings - especially when they do U-Turns in mid-air -- now that is a sight to see ! this is my interpretation of what it looked like out the kitchen window - © All Rights Reserved
