bright colors in a casual garden -
down the road -
planted by a soul named Bob -
must meet this gentleman -
wonder if he is as colorful as his garden ?
** Update - Have met 'Bob the Gardener' - mellow, subdued gentleman who loves this garden and was thrilled I was taking more photos of it [ Sept. 25 ] -- he gave me some French Marigold seeds and more Cosmos seeds. **

Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos) female
Kaufman Field Guide to Butterflies of North America
and
www.jeffpippen.com/butterflies/pearlcrescent.htm
Jeff Pippen has a link to the Silvery Checkerspot - noting that identification can "be a challenge"
www.jeffpippen.com/butterflies/silverycheckerspot.htm
Pearl Crescent is more common where I am in North Carolina and is smaller than the Silvery Checkerspot, though the underside of the wings are different in the two ..
Same butterfly photos taken over 2 days - there is a notch out of the right lower wing in some photos ..
