One white bench on the porch -- Now an Arts Center -- built in the late 1700's -- Was built for Emma Holt and her spouse, Capt. White -- By her Father, Industrialist, Edwin Holt -- Down the street is another similar style home -- Also built by Edwin Holt -- For Elizabeth Holt and her spouse -- It has been refurbished and is a bank -- Have been told by local historians -- The 3rd home built for another daughter of Edwin Holt -- Was beyond repair -- No longer exists -- Land occupied by something-or-other (a business or gov. building) - really don't know. At one time the Holt family had a large amount of acreage in this part of the city. The Holt name is still quite prominent (i.e. David Holt - musician) - © All rights reserved

fly through service .. thought all the houses here had at least one .. fly through lane .. sigh - guess I'll sit here and figure out which neighbor .. has the best one .. surely isn't here! (Robin) nobody told us a fly through was a requirement .. geesh .. would have done it .. after consulting with neighbors .. on how-to ! no birds have stopped to look for food .. we put some on the deck .. so far, no takers .. maybe later .. A Limpkin .. Usually a solitary wading bird .. Feathers of olive- brown and white .. - from AnimalPlanet website: "Limpkin, a marsh bird native to Georgia and Florida and southward to South America. The limpkin grows up to 28 inches (71 cm) long, including its 4 ½-inch (11-cm) bill. Its plumage is olive-brown streaked with white. It has long, slender legs that hang downward in flight. Because of its wailing cry, eeow, the limpkin is also known as the crying bird. The name limpkin refers to the bird's halting walk. The limpkin frequents marshes, where it feeds on frogs and other aquatic animals, particularly the apple snail. Four to eight eggs, which are light-brown blotched with brown and gray, are laid in a nest built in a shrub. The limpkin's young are able to swim when they emerge from the egg, and leave the nest the day they hatch.
