Around Oneida Lofts Apartments -
The Fence has been removed -
This is in the area where most materials / equipment have been seen in the series -
When I looked, at first I couldn't figure out what was different -
Then -
Wham !
The fence is gone !
Work is going just about round the clock -
Movable outside lights -
Noticed the other day -
Grading is underway -
That this 100+ yr old mill is being re-furbished -
Makes my heart SING -
This is a small town, but the people are wonderful -
Just ask Pam J -
She has met some in her visits !

25 Sept 2016 Update
She might be old, but being put to new use as apartments.
Oneida Cotton Mills was built in the late 1800s -
After so many textile companies left North Carolina, she sat idle -
This is a small town, but they seem to try to re-hab as much as possible -
The Holt Family was well-known in the textile industry
The Arts Center and a current bank once were homes built by Edwin Holt for his daughters.
An album -- ReHab of Oneida Cotton Mills -- takes you through digital documentation starting in 2013.
It shall continue until completed.

2013 December - 2016 April / July Update

Oneida Mills re-furbishing continues ..
The main photo was taken in 2013 -- before permits had been pulled and before this 100+ yr Mill met the rules for a ' Historic building.
Being designated an Historic building took until 2015 December ....
There are 3 notes across the top ..
Left is 2016 April ..
Center is 2016 July - showing quite a difference when compared to the original photo.
Right is 2016 July - a bit of the inside as it is being developed.
We have had so much rain, that there will probably be much interior work .... North Carolina clay would be very difficult to get equipment in for any deliveries ..
This is the Update promised .... this is the longest building (with the Tower on the right) on Harden St.

Oneida Mills as it goes through the process ..
Being re-purposed into apartments ..
Last heard, there should be 134 'old but new ' places for souls to call home ..
These100+yr old buildings are getting new life ..
Yes, will do my best to bring weekly updates ..
But, should something totally fantastic happen in-between ..
Y'all will get that, too !

collapse of the roof -
over the loading docks -
Oneida Cotton Mills -
over 100 yrs old -
the roof had a leak -
9 inches of snow didn't help -
so, the transformation of this old building -
into apartments -
11 have been lost -
still over 100 will be available -
when completed -
it is a positive sign when old buildings are re-purposed -
old, hand crafted bricks -
in a pile -
hopefully some will be salvaged -
^^ inactive for at least 15 years ^^
