an Anhinga, that I know ..
also known as a Snake bird ..
watched you for quite a while but you never came out of the lake to dry your feathers ..

across the fence in my neighbor's yard ..
a splash of orange caught my eye ..
ah, a Frito Flutterby ..
really a Gulf Fritillary Butterfly - (Agraulis vanillae)
but, in the ferns, Spiral Ginger & bromeliads ..
there must be something special ..

this little gal was motionless on the Bromeliad bloom..
stayed for a long time ..
only when I moved to get a different angle ..
she disappeared like a cloud of smoke ..

a gray squirrel can be still for quite a while ..
know she saw me ..
maybe she'll forget and go take photos of something else ..
am not even in her yard ..

he had been sitting in this Camphor tree, seeminly not noticing me nearby..
so, he heads or rears down to go find something to eat ..
he really had to look ..
guess he forgot where he had buried it !

Stages of a Shampoo Ginger plant ...

in between large leaves, the ginger cones develop and change from green to red ..
they hold a lot of moisture, so if you squeeze one, you get a type of lotion/shampoo released into your hands ..
very fragrant ..
they die back during the winter, but appear in the spring...
