this wonderful soul grilled hamburgers and hotdogs .. don't know how he does it, but those burgers were sooo good.. we were kidding back and forth .. a friend said the last time she had one that good, she paid $10 for it ... we worked hard in perfect weather ... the lunch break was a chance to talk to some of the folks you had been working side-by-side with ... all to benefit those Seniors who need a helping hand ... www.seniororphansofpolkcounty.org ©SD All Rights Reserved

A Lyrical Connection . Christmas Dinner - ..for Senior Orphans was held Dec. 6 th -2009 ..all Seniors were served dinner, dessert & beverages by volunteers from the community ..a local school of dance provided entertainment "Senior Orphans of Polk County was founded over twenty-five years ago to assist those less fortunate. The idea came from attending an organizational meeting of service programs in Polk County. The original goal was to help local, indigent seniors living with no family support and monthly incomes of $400 or less. Today that amount has increased to include those with monthly incomes of $600 or less. or is it sun & shadows ... filtered light through the branches of the Reclanata .. patterns created in dying weeds is interesting .. (no, it isn't grass.. it is a 'grass-wannabe'!) ..for the enjoyment of any who are cold; have the heat turned on; actually have snow; can only find green in an evergreen tree ..there still is sun, shadows and warmth ..let me know ..will try to send some your way ! ©SD All Rights Reserved

boxes that are flat in huge stacks, come to life at the fingers of volunteers. They have a system of flipping them open; seal the bottom securely with tape; pass them over to other volunteers, who cut 'hand holds' in the sides. It was an amazing sight!
