has weathered this window frame -
the original building was erected in the late 1800s -
in 1904, when fire destroyed most of the plant -
it was replaced with a brick structure -
considering the age of this facility -
would consider it well worth re-purposing -
know someone who would love to do it -
just a little glitch in the way -
finances !
he has been in the front area when it was a thrift store -
said it has wooden floors .. tall ceilings -
this would be nice to 'tour' -
The Burlington Coffin Company

Update: as of Feb. 19, 2016 -- this 100,000 sq ft piece of history is being demolished.
There are no plans to use that entire city block.
Just as my soul aches when a Green Soul is removed, when part of history is taken and brushed away as it never existed -- I get a bad feeling ..
** There is an empty lot in this space now; chain link fence around it. The owners said they had no plans to do anything with it. At least that part is true.... they haven't. **
Didn't expect this ..

in a local cemetery, when a tree needs to be cut (disease, storm damage) for whatever the reason, sculptures are made from the remainder of the trunk..
they are beautifully carved..

New .. but old ..
- this front half of a Tribal/Gypzee belt is new for the dancer
- but it really is old
- recycled .. re-used .. re-purposed
- the chain maille effect is from pop-top tabs
- this is very labor intensive, but such a nice effect achieved
- this work of art imagined/produced by our dance instructor
- so, save those pop-top tabs !
- see what you can make
- Eco.friendly Dance Troupe !
