Construction of the current bridge began in 1982, and the completed bridge was dedicated on February 7, 1987. The new bridge cost $244 million to build, and was opened to traffic on April 20, 1987. It replaced an older bridge constructed in 1954 and partly destroyed in a collision in 1980."

but, no... left this photo as it was taken.. the pier stretches out into Tampa Bay.. at the end of the pier, on the right, is the restaurant.. fisherpersons & brown pelicans to the left, please.. pelicans will walk; wait; perhaps be given a morsel or might even snatch it.. watching them is a lot of fun.. see that benches have been added to the pier.. nice touch.. then one can sit & enjoy the old pier & the newer Sunshine Skyway Bridge in the distance.. ©SD www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_Skyway_Bridge ^SOOC

a brown pelican seems headed for the rocks .. or the evergreen tree .. perch a while .. could hear them, but they blended in with the tree so well, no photo came out showing them .. far left (on Large) is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge .. a beautiful sailboat is probably headed to the pier .. the Pier has been there for years ! fishermen & pelicans alike try their luck in the waters .. one of the beauties of Anna Maria Island, Florida USA .. © All rights reserved Archive Airings Group AA - 315 - Rocks and Stones
