the cactus is using the chain-link fence for support.. this bud has grown through to the other side of the fence.. must go move the branches of that shrub to check for more buds.. and not get stuck by the cactus!

given by a friend, to this large over-the-fence climber, the cereus cactus begins the red-stage of the seed pod. What changes this cactus goes through.. from a small pine-cone type bud..to an eliptecal green bud ready to burst forth with a delicate yellow & white fragrant, saucer size bloom ..now,to this red, almost prehistoric seed pod.

a cereus bud, one partially open and the main one just about fully open.. the large cactus to the left of the flowers are what they grow on.. took about 4-5 yrs before anything happened. But now... wow! beauty of a Night Blooming Cereus .. (c) All Rights Reserved
