from cereus cactus.. forms behind the large saucer - size bloom & becomes a Dragon Fruit.

(thanks for the ID) thought it was a seed pod which formed after a night blooming cereus, but someone said it was a dragon fruit. Have seen dragon fruit in grocery stores.. this is more round shape than those. Any stab at an ID would be appreciated. © All rights reserved

Seed pod forms at the base of the cereus bloom growing from green into a red seed pod. The bloom dries and falls off the end, while the seed pod is still nourished by the cactus. Have since found out, this is a Dragon Fruit! © All rights reserved

given by a friend, to this large over-the-fence climber, the cereus cactus begins the red-stage of the seed pod. What changes this cactus goes through.. from a small pine-cone type bud..to an eliptecal green bud ready to burst forth with a delicate yellow & white fragrant, saucer size bloom ..now,to this red, almost prehistoric seed pod.
