2012 Senior Orphans Dinner .. a full house of diners & servers .. entertainment by local dance studio & vocalists .. Santa was someplace in the crowd .. this is held every December on the 1st Monday .. -- from TheLedger.com: "Senior Orphans of Polk County is in need of volunteer workers for our two Christmas season events. Our annual Christmas Dinner, serving about 400 to 500 senior citizens, will be held at the Lake Mirror Center in downtown Lakeland on Monday. We are in need of help with decorating, assisting the elderly to seats, serving food, drinks and clean up. Help is needed from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., or whatever hours each volunteer can spare. A food-box-packing event is scheduled for Dec. 8. Six hundred boxes need to be filled with food items to go along with ­Christmas presents requested by each elderly client. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Snacks and lunch will be provided for volunteers. Senior Orphans of Polk County is a 100 percent volunteer-driven, year-round charity, providing added support to our seniors living on $600 a month or less and needing your help. - the Swan roundup happened this morning at 7:30am EDT - I had been checking the City Calendar so I wouldn't miss it - it wasn't posted on the calendar ! - sigh - so, did the next best thing - after finding out about it, had breakfast and headed to the lake - the pens are very large - but I think the swans think it is 'too much togetherness' - every so often, one will nip at another - tomorrow, they get weighed - checked for anything that might be wrong - given shots if needed - and have a micro chip put in - if they don't have one - most of the photos today were of the Wood Storks - most were around the pens - like guards with feathers collage done in: www.picmonkey.com © All Rights Reserved

the process begins.. it's rainy.. getting a little dark.. both these buds will probably open tonight (Thursday).. will go out later after dark to see any changes.. last year I was surprised with the flowers.. this year, am so looking forward to the beaufiful saucer-size, fragrant flowers.. this is an on-going saga of the Night Blooming Cereus Cactus .. in my jungle !!!!

of oranges for juicing .. eating .. [ the person juicing always has the advantage to taste-test ] if you aren't used to seeing freshly picked oranges .. there is nothing wrong with them .. this is the way oranges really do look .. not all bright orange .. without blemishes .. or shiny .. except they just had a bath .. these are [ as somebody out there would say ] .. "the Real Deal " .. enjoy .. wish I could send all of you some .. but, this will have to do .. hmm .. make note to self .. only part.. Another Link in the Chain .. one nest to multiple nests of the Rookery .. Wood stork nests .. Cormorants .. Anhingas .. Snowy Egrets .. haven't seen Herons or Roseatte Spoonbills -- yet .. been digitally tracking this area for 3 yrs now .. the birds are all increasing in numbers .. hopefully that equates with more chick survival .. this is a hand held shot.. will go back with tripod .. but, this is a really noisy place .. chicks with mouths open .. voicing displeasure at not being .. fed quickly enough ? www.picmonkey.com © All Rights Reserved ..just going by 2012 photos, there are more Wood storks this year; just a visual via photos, by no means do I count them..
