Ned's photos with the keyword: Transit of Mercury

Yesterday, the planet Mercury crossed in front of the sun. This happens about 13 times per century; it last happened 10 years ago and will next happen in about 3 years. I had to chase the sun for a long time before I got out from under heavy overcast. I ended up here, on a gravel road called "Goose Haven" about half way between Fairfield and Rio Vista, California. I had some trouble recording from the solar telescope, and by the time I realized it was not going to work there was not time left to set up another camera, so I enjoyed watching through the telescope with my eyes, which was fine! It was a nice place to watch the event.
