Paper negative. Sometimes I like the negative better than the positive...

Valley Oak at Crane Creek regional park in Sonoma County California.
The mid-afternoon light was flat, and I think I will come back and photograph this tree from the other side.
Something I never noticed before, but makes sense if you think about it: as I walked around the park, I noticed that for every tree, if I stood where you could see the trunk and branches then I was looking into the sun. Of course the leaves grow and spread out more on the side of the tree that faces the afternoon sun!

This pinhole paper negative was underexposed but I like the patterns and in a way it gets the feel of this place.
I have been walking in this park for 15 years and just Saturday discovered this pool of water under a beautiful old oak tree. My dog Mango of course jumped right in as soon as she saw it. I'll be back to give it more than 5 minutes exposure next time!

This old tree guards the view at this park. The print is not as grainy as the scan appears.

This view had a strong sense of dimension and you can see it in the print but harder to see in the scan.

Went to test a new pinhole today and this is what I got when I came home and developed it. There were no eucalyptus trees where I went today, strange to see one "reflected" in that water! No idea and I can't think of any camera I own that would make that line.

First tries at salt printing. It is very fun!
The background is nearly pure white, don't know why the scan makes it grey.
5.3 x 9 inches, printed 4 January 2014.

Another paper negative, cropped a little, from new foamcore camera. You can't tell from this scan, but the detail in the negative is amazing: you can see hundreds of individual trees and details like fence posts way off in the distance . No filters, so almost ortho. Just a bit underexposed, but that left those clouds. I'm excited to try more! Best viewed large...

Most of my recent cans have had a lot of water. This one did too, but I carefully carried it out and got it all the way home without tipping it. Then I tipped it over when I was getting out of my car and made those splash marks :-(. I might see if they wash off if I try to fix this one, but I don't think they will.
You can see all I've ever made at a Solargraphy Map
