Oak at Crane Creek Regional Park. This is a 5x7" straight print. Besides the leak on the lower right, there is a strange blurriness which makes an interesting effect... the center of the print jumps out. Under the "tree arch" the print looks extremely sharp. Too many possibilities: * it was the last frame, so maybe the film lost tension? * Shot at 1/50, which is slower than I've tried with this camera? * Sometimes this camera has smaller DOF than I expect? This was F11. Who knows? But it looks sort of dreamy.

I walk by these oaks very often. Just on the other side is one of my favorite views in all of Sonoma County. This is a straight 5x7 print. I'm very new at this but this print came out better than I expected. On a whim this roll was shot entirely "sunny 16" with no metering at all, and this one looked like it would be the most difficult to print so I did it first. Little did I know it was going to happen, but my old Weston meter has just stopped working, so now I'll be shooting this 120 folder "sunny 16" for a while longer whether I want to or not! I guess I'm glad for the practice and also some confidence because most of the frames came out just fine.

Laguna Lake in the distance grows and shrinks dramatically depending on the rains. Luther Burbank's brother David lived in this area about 125 years ago when Luther decided to join him in California. That is how Luther Burbank came to Santa Rosa. Printed 13 February 2013
