AEC Regent III RT4712. The route is pretty much the same today as it was in the 1950s, except that it terminates at John Lewis rather than the British Museum. Westbourne Park Bus Garage Open Day

RM2

Routemaster RM2 was the second of the four prototypes ordered by London Transport. It was built at LT's Chiswick Works with the combined skills of London Transport, AEC & PRV. It was rapidly modified with changes as a result of the experiences with RM1 and was taken into LT's stock in March 1955. Westbourne Park Bus Garage Open Day

B2737 is one of four surviving B-type buses in known existence. It began service in January 1914 on Route 9 between Barnes and Liverpool Street. When the First World War broke out, it was commandeered by the War Department. It has now been restored with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the support of London Transport Museum Friends. Westbourne Park Station

The only photo I took this day. It was sunny when I left Westbourne Park at 9:30 a.m. to head into the City, but cloudy when I arrived at the Museum of London to see the Cheapside Hoard exhibition. Torrential rain followed me from there to the Guildhall Art Gallery to Borough Market and the Hayward Gallery. It finally stopped as I walked home from the station at the end of the day.

Canal Impass

Narrow boat that's come unmoored from one of its pegs, now totally blocking the Grand Union Canal at Westbourne Park. That's Trellick Tower in the background (designed by Erno Goldfinger, completed in 1972 -- a Brutalist masterpiece, Grade II* listed).

Badly Moored Boat

08 Mar 2014 1 1 334
When I arrived at Meanwhile Gardens and walked down the towpath (right to left), this narrow boat was securely moored with two pegs into the ground at the bank. When I came back 20 minutes later, one of the pegs had come out of the ground (by itself? or was it helped?) and the boat had swung around to block the canal.

From the towpath along the Grand Union Canal by Meanwhile Gardens, Westbourne Park. I can't resist a reflection.

Meanwhile Gardens Sculpture

I've been making a point to spend some time in Meanwhile Gardens whenever I visit London. My friend Helen lived nearby and loved these gardens. I like to wander quietly down the paths and remember her and what an amazing woman she was. I miss her very much. I'd seen her photo of this sculpture, but was never able to find it until this year's visit.
