June 21: Necton seflie

The church in Necton has the most amazing medieval nave roof with angels adorning the hammer beam roof. Luckily they had a viewing mirror too so I could fulfil the "selfie" theme for today. Pentax K-3iii, SMC Pentax "K" 20mm f/4 lens.

March 21: silly selfie

"Single in..." challenge theme day: selfie. After the last one when I had to go back and forth a dozen times to get the focus right, this month I went for the obvious selfie in a mirror. Pentax K-3iii, SMC Pentax "K" 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Selfie for February

It took a lot of going back and forth to get the focus right on a medium manual telephoto. Even now I'm not sure I nailed it, and had I been behind the lens I would open it up more as well. Despite that, not too bad for a photo close to 11pm on selfie day. Pentax K-3iii, SMC Pentax "K", 120mm f/2.8, bounced flash.

I was trying to take a self-timed photo with the camera balanced on a field-side bench. Oops. Minolta 7000, Ilford FP4 Plus.

Self portrait after visiting the Taylor-Wessing

In this self portrait Lockyear is commenting on the nature of 21st century society, one which is obsessed with self reflection through the medium of the selfie. The never-ending rush of existence, however, leaves no time for true reflection on life, and leads to a fractured view of reality. On the other hand, this might be a pretentious caption dressed in post-modernist drivel in order to justify a grabbed photo on an elevator. Ultimately, only the viewer can decide.
