Scattering Spiderlings

07 May 2020 18 21 152
Taken in my garden. This is what happens when you touch a "ball" of baby spiders - they all scatter away! If you go back in half an hour, they will have returned and re-formed. Over the next few days they will gradually go off on their own. (See my previous image for the "ball". Please view large, on black for best effect. If you want to be really adventurous use the "Actions" menu, then "See all sizes" and view the original size!

Taken in my garden. The "ball" is about the size of a £1 coin and each spiderling is around 2mm across. Please view large, on black for best effect. If you want to be really adventurous use the "Actions" menu, then "See all sizes" and view the original size! The next image shows what happens when you touch a "ball" and the spiderlings scatter.

Each one is only around 2-3mm long. These will have moulted once in the egg sac and typically will moult once again before they gradually disperse and go their separate ways. My wife found these in our garden this morning at the base of a daffodil flower. Please view large, on black (or check them out at full size). They're very cute :-) Edit 2nd March 2022..........added to Macro Dreams Challenges Group for MULTIPLE
