I have lots of these lovely flowers in my garden at the moment, and I recently found this beautifully shaped vase. I think they go well together. Photographed indoors in natural window light.

Nigella Seed Heads

17 Jul 2024 22 39 138
I was collecting the seeds from my Nigella (Love in a Mist) seed heads this morning and it seemed like a good idea to photograph them as well. Taken indoors in natural window light with a sheet of yellow card as a background.

Nigella Still Life

These Nigella were growing in between cracks in the paving and tarmac in my back garden, and they needed to be pulled up before they went to seed, so I decided to put them in a vase and photograph them. There are many more in the garden (growing in the proper place), so I won't miss these. Taken indoors using natural window light. The background is a length of wrapping paper. Thanks for looking.

Hyacinth

Saved from my garden after it was broken down by heavy rain two or three days ago and photographed indoors.

Spring Snowflakes (+PiP)

29 Feb 2024 26 42 156
I was stuck indoors most of yesterday waiting for our boiler to be be repaired, so I thought a bit of table top photography would pass the time. I decided to keep it simple, just a plain piece of card as a background, a nicely shaped vase and the flowers (actually from my garden this time) and plenty of negative space. Natural light from the window supplemented by an LED light panel. A portrait crop in the PiP if you fancy a look.

Vase with Common Reed Grass

24 Nov 2023 19 26 150
Taken in my garden outdoors in natural light using a small folding table and a sheet of card as a background. The egg-shaped vase again, with a handful of Common Reed Grass heads from the Mill Pond at Langstone Harbour. Simple, but effective I think. Best viewed large and hope you like it. Have a lovely day and a splendid weekend everyone.

Egg-shaped Vase with Flower and Leaves.

18 Nov 2023 23 42 171
A vaguely autumn-themed still life image photographed yesterday. I'm currently in the throes of a stinking cold with a cough.......so I'm staying indoors for day or two. The flower came from a pot in my front garden, the leaves I collected and dried last week (also from the garden). The background was a sheet of card from a craft shop with a subtle texture added in post processing.. The egg-shaped vase I found recently in a charity shop and liked it so much that I bought it especially to use in photos, so you'll probably be seeing it again. Have a splendid weekend y'all.

Paper Umbrellas (+PiP)

08 Sep 2023 16 26 126
I was clearing out my "props box" a few weeks back when I found a box containing several paper umbrellas..........intended for use in cocktail glasses and the like. Most were damaged but I managed to salvage a few to take photos of. This shot and the one in the PiP were the results. I hope you all have a lovely Friday and are looking forward to a splendid weekend.............thanks for looking!

Anemones

The flowers were kindly donated by my lovely neighbour. Photographed indoors in natural light.

Everlasting Sweet Peas

27 Aug 2023 27 34 186
These perennial sweet peas lack the fragrance of the annual version, but are just as lovely looking! My neghbour kindly allowed me to pick the flower and I took it indoors to photograph. I hope you like it.

Wavy Lines Abstract

17 Mar 2023 20 30 201
Taken for the Macro Dreams Challenges group latest theme: Wavy Lines. This is part of a glass vase with coloured wavy lines made from raised glass on the outside. Once I'd taken the photo however the close up view showed that the glass was badly scarred from all the use it's had and it didn't look very nice............so I decided to disguise the scarring by over-exposing it and adding a texture. I then changed the colours and made the whole thing into an abstract. I hope you like it. Also fits into the following previous challenges: Yellow, Lines, Stripes or Ridges, Glass, Five or more.

A Single Bloom

17 May 2022 20 20 183
Raining and overcast yesterday...........so tabletop photography seemed the way to go. I bought a couple of these little blue vases in a charity shop and the flower came from a bunch given to my wife by her friend. The background was a piece of white card, which I changed to this colour in post processing.

A Single Flower

Spotted on a table outside a pub. Just needed a bit of jiggery-pokery in LR and Colour Efex Pro to finish up with this image.
