Milton Common, Portsmouth (+PiP)

05 Aug 2024 20 30 136
Another couple of images from my walk on Milton Common last Tuesday. The other image is in the PiP. Believe It or not this beautiful place used to be mudflats. The land was reclaimed and used as a landfill site between 1962-1970. Around 1974 it was capped, grassed over and nature was allowed to take over. Best viewed large if you have time. Thanks for looking.

Taken in the grounds of one of our local churches.

Cemetery Snowdrops (+PiPs)

01 Mar 2023 27 38 199
Taken in the cemetery of St Mary's church in Buriton, Hampshire. I think I probably got these images just in time as some of the snowdrops are starting to die down. This is quite heavily cropped to get rid of a lot of distracting stuff, so best viewed large if you have time. There are a couple of PiPs as well.

Roadside Wildflowers

12 Jul 2022 18 30 171
Taken along the road that runs over the top of Old Winchester Hill, Hampshire. It's becoming more and more common in England for grass verges alongside roads to be left to grow rather than being mowed short, which is great for wildlife.

Roped off

03 Jul 2022 18 31 121
Some areas of the graveyard in our local church have been roped off and left unmown for the wildflowers. What a great idea! Just to be different though I decided to focus on the ropes rather than the flowers :-)) There's another image in the PiP if you fancy a look!

Not Sailing Anywhere, Any Time Soon..!!

An extra photo from me today......taken for WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY. This was taken this morning during a quick walk at Langstone Harbour Hampshire, while the sun was out. It didn't say out long, but it was a pleasant outing nonetheless. I spotted this abandoned dinghy lying in a sea of wildflowers as I was on the way back to my car! Please view large, on black. Thanks for looking............I hope you've all had a good day!

Bluebell Woods (+PiP)

01 May 2021 22 23 201
The Bluebell season is upon us............we visited this location about 2 weeks ago and there were only a few flowers out. Yesterday we went back................and they're all out! It was a bit of a shame that the sun wasn't out as well and it rained shortly after taking these images. It was a wet walk back to the car :-)) Enjoy your weekend everyone. Thanks to everyone who has visited my photo-stream lately and taken the trouble to comment or leave a star.

Wild Flower Meadow

Well, not quite a meadow - but a large flower bed in Southsea, Hampshire near the seafront. It's all in the perspective :-)

After the rain

Can't remember exactly where this is, (somewhere in deepest, darkest Hampshire), just that I liked the way the road looked after the rain stopped, and the freshness of the roadside greenery!
