July second; seven degrees; fireplace at the ready

02 Jul 2021 61
Unlike the western part of North America, we at the extreme eastern part are not experiencing a heat wave. As I write, I hear some brave souls firing off fireworks in our neighbourhood, dodging the rain, and no doubt wearing some warm clothes. It was much too wet last night, July 1st, to fire fireworks. It is seven degrees right now (uhh, that's about 43 degree F). That's about what it was last night, too. So we've lit a fire in the fireplace. The cat lay in front of it until I brought in the camera when she moved to the chesterfield. The cat likes having a fire. And it's warming the house considerably.
